Welcome & Session Summary!
Champion Youth Welcomes You!
Crime is a widespread problem in today’s society and safety is the family’s #1 concern.  Safety awareness is the best deterrence for this growing problem and is a vital part of every child’s education.  Champion Youth Outreach works with community organizations to provide youth & teen programs designed to promote safety awareness and defense.  Our goal is to help students become more aware and more capable of coping with their environment and at the same time promoting mental and physical well-being.

Champion Youth Self-Defense is a continuing program with beginner, intermediate, and advanced courses.  Sessions run during the Fall, Winter, and Spring.  Students progress in belt rank and degrees, and are awarded with certificates and ribbons for perfect attendance!  At the end of each session a Karate tournament is held to promote competitive spirit and sportsmanship.  All students are invited and everyone is a winner!

Benefits of the program:   Diffusing peer conflict, setting and achieving goals, self-discipline, physical and mental well-being, better concentration and self-esteem, developing grace under pressure and safety education.  These are but a few of the benefits our self-defense program provides to its students.

Session Summary & Highlights

Please note that sessions vary in length from 8-15 weeks.

WEEKS 1-3 New student registration:   We accept new students up to the third week of class.  Bring a friend to enroll in class and receive a free headband. It's always more fun to have a partner to practice with!  You may  fill out a registration form and bring it to class, or register at class 15 minutes prior to the start time.

Week 4 Children's Equipment Donation:   The Equipment Donation enables students to earn their training equipment!   Though we offer a low cost program, it can be discouraging for parents to discover the additional costs of uniforms and training equipment.  This is how the Donation works.  Champion Youth will give away door prizes at our next Karate Tournament.   Students offer door prize tickets to anyone who wishes to make a donation to help the student purchase their training equipment.  100% of all donations will be used to pay for equipment!  By earning their equipment, students get an added sense of responsibility and parents are relieved of additional expenses.

WEEKS 3-5 Cups & mouthpieces are mandatory:  In the next weeks, we will be starting light contact sparring.  All students will be required to have a groin cup & mouthpiece as protective equipment.  They will be available at class for $10.00/set for boys and $15.00/set for girls.  The martial art cup is a special "tuck-under" cup, which provides maximum protection.

WEEK 5 Light contact sparring starts: For the next few weeks students will be working with partners learning self-defense and sparring to utilize techniques learned in the first few weeks of class!

WEEKS 6-10 A typical class includes the following:   Basic techniques are reviewed.   New techniques are learned.  Self-Defense and sparring drills are practiced and if time allows, we play Karate games!

NOTE:  This is the best time to take make-up lessons!

Earnings from the Equipment Donation are to be turned in to your instructor.  You do not need to wait until you sell all of your tickets, you can receive equipment as soon as you want!   The sooner the students have their training & protective equipment, the faster they will progress!

WEEK 11 Testing:   Advancement in rank is based on participation, attendance, positive attitude and Karate skills!  There is a $10.00 testing fee.

Champion Youth Karate Tournament, Sparring Seminar, and Martial Arts Demonstration:  All students are invited to compete against other Champion Youth students of the same age and ability.   There will be two events to compete in with over 150 trophies to be awarded!   Cost will be a $25.00 tournament fee for each student, and $2.00 for every spectator attending.

WEEK 12 Awards Ceremonies:   Certificates, belts, stripes, patches & perfect attendance awards will be presented to all students!  Remember to bring your tournament medallions and trophies!
